SUNDARA KANDA HOMAM ON 5th APRIL 2025

We are celebrating 30th Anniversary of our annual Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam in Birmingham for 2 days on 5thย  & 6th of April 2025. We will perform Sundara Kanda Homam on Saturday the 5th April and Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam on 6th April which holds immense significance, especially when recited or performed as part of Group & Collective prayers ensures enhanced benefits.

Sundara Kanda is one of the significant sections of the ancient Indian epic, the Ramayana. It primarily narrates the adventures of Hanuman as he embarks on a journey to Lanka in search of Sitamma. The text is revered in Hindu tradition for its spiritual significance and for portraying virtues such as devotion, bravery, and loyalty. Sundara Kanda Moolam Parayanam refers to the practice of reciting this portion of the Ramayana. “Moolam” indicates the original verses in Sanskrit, and “Parayanam” means reading or recitation. Devotees believe that reciting Sundara Kanda can bring peace, remove obstacles, and provide divine blessings. Each chapter, or “sarga,” of Sundara Kanda is filled with inspiring stories and profound messages. People often perform Parayanam or Homam during auspicious occasions or when seeking divine intervention in life.

The Sundara Kanda comprises 68 chapters, also known as “sargas,” and contains around 2,800 shlokas, or verses, in the original Sanskrit text. Each chapter is rich with Hanuman’s heroic exploits, deep devotion, and insightful teachings.ย

We will be blessed with Spiritual Benefits: Reciting Sundara Kanda is believed to invoke the blessings of Lord Hanuman, who symbolizes strength, devotion, and courage. This can help purify the environment and foster a sense of peace and positivity.ย

We will Overcome Obstacles: Many devotees perform Sundara Kanda Homam to seek divine assistance in overcoming personal challenges and obstacles. It’s said to be particularly effective in times of difficulty or when facing significant life decisions. In todayโ€™s world filled with turmoil and all kinds of challenges we all need to be blessed to be successful.

Most important benefit is Promotion of Devotion: The recitation of Sundara Kanda enhances bhakti (devotion) and helps deepen one’s connection with the divine. The stories and teachings in this part of the Ramayana inspire greater faith and commitment to spiritual practices.ย

We upkeep the Cultural and Traditional Value: Performing Sundara Kanda Parayanam or Homam helps preserve and pass down traditional practices to future generations. It serves as a reminder of cultural heritage and the timeless wisdom embedded in these ancient texts.

We will be blessed with Mental Peace and Clarity: The rhythmic chanting and the profound messages of Sundara Kanda can bring mental calmness, reduce stress, and enhance focus. It’s a meditative practice that aligns the mind with higher spiritual ideals. Whether performed individually or as a family, or community. Sundara Kanda Parayanam can bring numerous blessings and create a spiritually enriched atmosphere at home, community and society.

How to take part in Sundara Kanda Homam?

All participants will be given opportunity to take part during the Homam in rotation of 10 to 15 minutes slots for devotees depending on number of devotees on the first come first basis. All devotees will take sankalpam then sit and offer fire oblations (Ahuthis) during their turn depending on number of participants. While the other devotees taking part in ritual other can continue chanting if they could or just sit and listen to the divine chantingโ€™s by scholars. The participation is free all the material will be provided by the organisers.ย
